The Great Hall Shoot
The making of An Artist, The Studio, and all the rest…Part 2.
While Artist in Residence at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, I was given access to the Museum’s Great Hall to produce and direct the re-staging of Gustav Courbet’s painting The Painter’s Studio (1854/55). I invited representatives from Irish Cultural Society to re-enact the figures in Courbet’s work. An Artist, The Studio, and all the rest… is a two part video that was first exhibited for my solo show at the Royal Hibernian Academy curated by Patrick Murphy in 2012. The below documentation was shot by Guy Robbins who captured the film-set, rehearsals, blocking off shots, towards a final series of takes with all the invited guests in the scene.
